The Madas RG/2MC is a precision gas pressure regulator designed for industrial applications. It is characterized by its compensated obturator, which ensures a stable downstream pressure even if the inlet pressure or gas flow changes rapidly.

All models in the FRG series are designed for non-aggressive dry gases (Natural Gas, LPG, Nitrogen, Air).

The "FRG" name is followed by a suffix that defines its pressure rating and safety mechanisms.

If your model includes safety shut-offs, they operate as follows:

• OPSO (Overpressure): Shuts off the gas if the downstream pressure rises above the set safety limit (e.g., due to debris in the seat). Manual reset required.

• UPSO (Underpressure): Shuts off if the pressure drops below a minimum (e.g., a broken pipe or supply failure).

• Safety Membrane: An additional internal diaphragm that prevents gas leakage to the atmosphere if the working diaphragm ruptures (no vent line required for small sizes).

• Threaded: Rp (ISO 7-1) from 1/2" (DN 15) to 2" (DN 50).

• Flanged: PN 16 (ISO 7005) from DN 25 to DN 100.

• Flow Direction: Follow the arrow cast into the aluminum body.

• Mounting Position: Horizontal is preferred (spring tower facing up). If installed vertically, the outlet pressure may vary by a few millibars from the spring's rated value.

While the RG series maintains a constant downstream pressure, the MVB series acts as a "safety sentinel" that triggers a hard shutdown if pressures go out of bounds.

The RG series is characterized by a "compensated obturator" which ensures that the outlet pressure remains stable even if the inlet pressure or flow rate fluctuates sharply.

• Media: Natural gas, LPG, and non-aggressive dry gases.

• Ambient Temp (Ts): -15°C to+60°C.

• Inlet Pressure (P1): From 500 mbar up to 5 bar (model dependent).

The MVB series is a safety device that automatically shuts off the gas flow. Unlike a regulator, it has two states: Fully Open (normal operation) or Tripped/Closed (after a fault).

• Function: OPSO (Over Pressure) or UPSO (Under Pressure).

• Response Time: < 1 second.

• Reset Type: Manual only. You cannot reset an MVB until the pressure has returned to normal and the cause is identified.

• Standard Set Range: 30-450mbar (adjustable).

• Maximum Pressure (P{max}): 1bar or 6 bar.

In a standard industrial gas train, these components are installed in a specific sequence to protect the system:

1. Filter (FM): Removes debris.

2. Slam-Shut (MVB): Protects against regulator failure.

3. Regulator (RG): Drops the pressure to the burner's requirement.

4. Solenoid Valve (EVP): For operational on/off control.

• Orientation: Preferred horizontal with the spring tower/lever facing upwards.

• Venting: For high-pressure models, the relief valve (if present) may need a vent pipe to the outdoors.

• Sizing: Always size based on flow capacity (Q), not just pipe diameter. An oversized regulator can cause "hunting" (unstable pressure).
